Playa Grande Beach, Costa Rica (ContentDesk) June 30, 2005 -- Palmmgt.com is offering to contribute 5 percent of it's rental fees from the several beach-front estates it manages on Playa Grande Beach on Costa Rica's Pacific shore to a fund to protect and promote education about the Sea turtles that roam the beach and nest there. The leatherback turtle is the largest turtle with a typical shell length of over 3 feet and and a weight topping 1000 lbs. In 1980 it numbered over 115,000 adult females, however, now it is reported to number less than 25,000 worldwide. Playa Grande Beach is a nesting area and the site of a nature preserve for the Leatherback turtle, which roams freely on the beach to the delight of visitors. Palmmgt.com, which offers vacation rentals on Playa Grande Beach is promoting education of its guests and visitors there with contributions from its rentals to be used for that purpose. Palmmgt.com will use proceeds to promote ways to educate visitors more mindful of ways to protect Leatherback turtles, which hatch their eggs in the sand along the shore.

Currently Palmmgt.com forwards it's guests the following guidelines, which help protect the Leatherback turtles that nest there:Do Not: drive or walk on the beach above the high tide line- this crushes eggs and hatchlings in the nest! walk on the beach at night- this scares turtles away walk/stand in front of turtle plant anything on the beach or dunes use lights on the beach use flash photography or video around a turtle buy products made from turtlesDo: speak very softly if near a turtle use red lights instead of white on the exterior of your house if it is visible from the beach tell a park official if you see any practices that may be harmful to turtles appreciate this fascinating animal share your knowledge of leatherbacks with othersFor further details, contact: http://www.palmmgt.com/.
